Dermal Fillers
Restoring Balance and Structural Symmetry.
Dermal Filler treatment at Wabi Clinic takes a measured, architectural approach to facial rejuvenation. By focusing on the underlying scaffolding of the face, we aim to restore lost volume and refine contours with precision. Our philosophy moves away from over-filling, instead prioritizing the restoration of natural proportions and structural harmony.
The Essentials
The Philosophy: Why Dermal Fillers?
At Wabi, we view the face as a living structure. Over time, the "foundations" of this structure undergo natural changes. We do not seek to change your appearance, but rather to reinforce the architecture that supports it.
Our Dermal Filler treatment is designed for the discerning patient who values the luxury of quiet— results that are felt in the restoration of confidence and a refreshed appearance, rather than seen in an artificial change. By combining specific rheologies (thicknesses) of hyaluronic acid, we can precisely address deep structural deficits while maintaining the soft, dynamic movement of the face.

Understanding Facial Architecture & Aging
What causes facial aging?
The Wabi Approach
The choice of fillers are determined during your clinical consultation. By evaluating your facial anatomy and the depth of the structural deficit, we select the specific dermal filler that will most naturally reinforce your unique architecture. It is common to use a combination of dermal fillers across different layers to produce natural results.

Our Filler Suite: A Calibrated Approach
At Wabi Clinic, we do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. Different areas of facial architecture require different material properties. We utilize a range of hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers characterized by their Cohesivity, Elasticity and Plasticity allowing for a wide range of applications and natural results that mimic facial tissues.

Cohesivity

Elasticity (G')

Plasticity
Like honey or jam
(stays together)
Tissue Integration and Seamlessness
Like a mattress spring (pushes back)
Lift & Support
Like sculpting clay (holds a shape)
Contour & Definition
The Refining Gel
This high cohesivity gel is designed to give natural volume in mobile areas.
The Indication
It is typically used for the most superficial layers of the skin such as the tear trough, cheeks or forehead.
The Result
Designed to provide a smooth surface finish without affecting the natural movement of expressive areas.

Do Hyaluronic Acid Fillers Look Unnatural?
It is the placement of the product and not the filler type that makes someone look unnatural. With dermal fillers, the goal of treatment is to reinforce your natural anatomy, not to redesign it. The "unnatural" look often is typically the result of:
Too much product
Wrong product
Placing products
in the wrong layer

Can Fillers Be Combined
With Other Treatments?
Fillers are frequently combined with other treatments to achieve pan-facial rejuvenation at multiple depths that a single product cannot provide.

Synergistic Combinations With:
Lasers
Lasers can treat a multitude of superficial skin issues, including pigmentation, redness, enlarged pores, acne and acne marks.

What Is The Downtime For A Dermal Filler Treatment?
The downtime for fillers is generally minimal, with most people returning to normal activities immediately.
Common Side Effects:

Swelling
This is the most common effect, peaking at 24–48 hours. Lip treatments typically swell more significantly than other areas..

Bruising
Bruising can occur with any injection. These usually fade within 5–7 days and can typically be covered with makeup after 48 hours.

Tenderness
The injection sites may feel sore or "tight" for a few days as the product integrates with your tissue.
What Is The Aftercare Required After Dermal Fillers?
To minimize downtime and ensure the best results, follow these guidelines for the first 24–48 hours:

No Intense
Exercise
Avoid heavy lifting or cardio, as increased blood flow can worsen swelling.

Heat
Avoidance
Stay away from saunas, steam rooms, and direct sun exposure.

Hands Off
Do not massage or press on the treated areas as this can displace the filler.

Avoid
Make Up
The small needle openings can take 24-48 hrs to fully heal. Avoid the use of make up in these areas to prevent infection.

The Treatment
04
The Integration
After the application of topical numbing or local anaesthetic, the filler is administered via fine needles or blunt-tipped cannulas to ensure comfort and minimize bruising.
While results are visible immediately, the filler typically takes 2 weeks to fully integrate with your tissues and "settle" into its final, natural state.

03
Consultation
A comprehensive structural mapping of your face is performed. We discuss your concerns and assess your facial structure to determine the appropriate volumes and placement.
Post-Treatment
You may experience mild swelling or "firmness" in the treated area. This is a normal part of the integration process.

Fillers Are Not For Everyone
While dermal fillers are a versatile tool, they are not the appropriate solution for every patient or every concern. At Wabi, a thorough clinical assessment may determine that fillers are not the optimal path for the following reasons:
Fluid Retention
& Edema
Severe Skin Laxity
Active Inflammation
Alternative Needs
-
Patients prone to significant "puffiness" or chronic malar bags (swelling on the cheekbones) may find that fillers exacerbate fluid retention, as hyaluronic acid naturally attracts water.
-
When the skin’s "envelope" has lost significant elasticity, filler may not sit well underneath and a lot of volume is required to stretch the skin, increasing the potential for an over-filled appearance. In these cases, we recommend focusing on skin quality first with Ultherapy or biostimulators to lift and tighten the skin before considering dermal fillers.
-
Treatment cannot be performed in the presence of active skin infections, dental infections, or certain autoimmune flare-ups.
-
Sometimes, what appears to be a need for filler is actually a concern with surface "visual noise." For example, dermal fillers are commonly used to address static wrinkles formed by structural deficiencies such as the nasolabial folds or marionette lines. However, dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet or frown lines are due to muscle overactivity and are better addressed with neuromodulators.
It is important to remember that all faces are unique and the decision to undergo a Dermal Filler treatment should be discussed with a medical professional.
