Exion Radiofrequency Skin Tightening

Exion Radiofrequency (RF) Skin Tightening offers a non-invasive approach to improving skin laxity, fine lines and facial contour definition through a combination of monopolar radiofrequency and targeted ultrasound energy. By stimulating collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid production within the deeper layers of the skin, Exion supports gradual skin tightening and structural rejuvenation with minimal downtime.

The Essentials

The Philosophy: Supporting Skin From Within

Skin ageing is not solely a surface issue. Over time, collagen fibres become fragmented, elastin weakens, and the skin’s natural hyaluronic acid production gradually declines. This contributes to thinner, looser skin and reduced facial definition.

Exion RF Skin Tightening combines monopolar radiofrequency with targeted ultrasound delivery for a multilayered approach. It restores our foundational structures through controlled thermal stimulation and is designed to encourage the skin’s own regenerative processes over time.

What Causes Skin Laxity?

Skin laxity develops through a combination of intrinsic ageing, repetitive movement, environmental exposure and changes within the deeper supporting structures of the skin.

There are three primary contributors to this change:

Collagen Decline

Collagen provides structural support and tensile strength to the skin. From our mid-20s onward, collagen production naturally slows while existing collagen fibres become thinner and more disorganised over time. This contributes to skin thinning, fine lines and loss of firmness.

Elastin Degradation

Elastin allows the skin to recoil and maintain resilience. With age and sun exposure, elastin fibres weaken, causing the skin to lose its “bounce” and ability to remain taut.

Hyaluronic Acid Reduction

Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in hydration and tissue support. As natural levels decline, the skin may appear less supple, more crepey and less structurally supported.

How Exion Radiofrequency
Skin Tightening Works

Exion combines monopolar RF with targeted ultrasound (US) which synergistically works to deliver uniform heat energy to the deeper dermis while maintaining safer surface temperatures. This combination has been shown to increase collagen by 47%, elastin by 50% and hyaluronic acid by 224% after 4 sessions.

neck laxity

Neck Laxity

May help improve early jowling, lower face heaviness and softening of the jawline.

Can improve the appearance of fine lines around the cheeks, lower face and neck.

Supports collagen remodelling for skin that feels thinner or less elastic over time.

Younger patients may also use radiofrequency treatments as part of a long-term collagen preservation strategy.

May improve mild loose skin and crepey texture in the neck region.

What Is Facial Sagging?

an illustration showing the stages of facial sagging as we age as well as the naslabial folds, jowls and marionette lines.

Sagging is a natural downward shift in the position of skin tissues that occurs with age. This often gives rise to folds in the face such as nasolabial folds, jowls or marionette lines.

There are three primary contributors to this change:

Skin Collagen & Elastin Depletion

From our mid-20s, the body’s production of collagen (provides strength) and elastin (provides bounce) slows down. Over time, the skin becomes weaker and less able to resist the downward pull of gravity.

SMAS Laxity

The SMAS (Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System) is a deep, tough layer of fibromuscular tissue that provides firmness and lifting support to your face. When this layer loses its tension, the entire mid-to-lower face begins to migrate downwards, creating what we commonly recognize as jowls or a "heavy" neck.

The Descent
of Fat Pads

Our faces are supported by deep and superficial fat pads. As we age, these pads may shrink or shift downwards, leading to the deepening of nasolabial folds and softening of the jawline.

What to Expect During Your Journey

The Treatment

A treatment handpiece is moved continuously across the skin while delivering controlled radiofrequency energy. Most patients describe the sensation as a gradual warmth.

The procedure is generally well tolerated and does not usually require numbing cream.

The Evolution

Results develop gradually as collagen remodelling occurs over time. Some patients notice an early improvement in skin texture and tightness, while firmer and more visible structural changes typically continue to evolve over several weeks.

A series of treatments is usually recommended for cumulative improvement.

The Consultation

The Aftercare

We begin with a detailed assessment of your skin concerns, degree of laxity and overall treatment goals to determine suitability for Exion Radiofrequency Skin Tightening.

There is minimal downtime after treatment. Mild redness can be seen for several hours. Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities immediately after the procedure.
